Who we are: Students for international Veterinary Opportunities (SIVO) is an academic program and non-profit effort of veterinary students and doctors at the University of Florida. Our goal is to provide basic veterinary care to locations outside of the United States. Currently, we have an annual 3-day clinic on the island of Roatan, Honduras, where we provide vaccines, preventative medicine, and spay/neuter surgeries for residents of the island at no cost. We depend on the kindness of our donors and student fundraising efforts to make this trip possible.
Mission Statement: Our goals are to provide medical care to the local pet population whose owners may not have other means to provide for their animals, to educate the local community about proper animal husbandry, to provide an opportunity for veterinary students to gain valuable medical and surgical experience, and to expose veterinary students to working in an international setting.
