Students for International Veterinary Opportunities

Students for International Veterinary Opportunities (SIVO) is an academic non-profit 501(c)(3) organization led by veterinary students and veterinarians at the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine. We provide no-cost, high-quality veterinary care to locations outside of the United States. Currently, we travel annually to the island of Roatán, Honduras to provide a three-day clinic open to locals and their pets. We offer vaccines, basic medications, and sterilization surgeries for resident animals at no cost. SIVO receives no funding from the University of Florida; we rely completely upon the generosity of donors and the effectiveness of our fundraising efforts to make this trip possible.

At our 2017 clinic, we were able to provide medical services to approximately 300 animals. We pride ourselves on our ability to not only help Roatán's local pets, but also to educate their owners in pet care and wellness standards. We take great pride in the number of locals who bring their pets to us year after year, as continuity of care is crucial for our patients' wellness!

We are continually in need of supplies and monetary donations to make our July, 2018 clinic as successful as possible! Please visit our "Planned Developments" page to see what projects and programs we have in the works for 2018, and how you can help.

Mission Statement: Students for International Veterinary Opportunities is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization (EIN # 47-5263165). Our goals are to provide medical care to local pets in Roatán, Honduras, whose owners may not have the means to provide for their animals otherwise; to educate the local community about proper animal husbandry and welfare; to provide an opportunity for veterinary students to gain valuable medical and surgical experience; and to expose veterinary students to working in an international setting.

Announcements/Upcoming Events

The SIVO 2017 clinic was extraordinarily successful! We saw nearly 300 patients for vaccines and preventative care, and performed roughly 70 spay/neuter surgeries.

The donations we recieved prior to the clinic this year were invaluable! We cannot thank our donors and sponsors enough. And it's never too early to start preparing for SIVO 2018!
